Privacy Policy

LoansForChristmas collects the details you enter in a loan request, plus basic data from your visit, and shares your request with lenders and partners in our network so they can decide whether to make an offer. This policy covers what we collect, who receives it and how long we keep it. It also shows how to opt out of the sale or sharing of your information.

This Privacy Policy explains how LoansForChristmas ("we", "us" or "our") collects, uses and shares personal information when you visit loansforchristmas.com (the "Website") or send a request through it. It also explains the rights and choices you have over that information.

LoansForChristmas is a lender-matching service. We don't make loans or credit decisions. When you send a request, we pass your details to lenders and lending partners in our network so they can review it, and we may be paid when a request is matched or funded. Once a lender has your information, it follows its own privacy policy, which this policy doesn't cover.

Information We Collect

Information you give us

Most of what we hold comes from you. The first thing you enter is the amount you'd like to borrow. The request form then asks for the details lenders need to review a request. Depending on the form, this may include your name, home address, email address, phone number, date of birth, Social Security number, information about your income and employment, and the bank account where a lender would send funds if you're approved.

If you use our Contact or Your Privacy Choices pages, we collect what you enter there, such as your name, email address, phone number and message, so we can answer you or act on your request.

Information from the link that brought you here

If you arrived from an ad or a partner website, the link may carry a campaign or affiliate code. We keep that code with your request so the right partner gets credit for the referral. On its own, the code identifies only the partner and the campaign.

Information collected automatically

When you visit, our servers and the tools described under "Cookies and analytics" may record technical details such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the website that referred you, and the date and time of your visit. We use this to keep the Website secure, to spot fraud, and to understand how people use the Website.

Information from lenders and partners

Lenders and partners in our network may tell us what happened with a request, for example whether it was matched or whether a loan was funded. We use this for our records, to work out what we're owed, and to improve how requests are matched.

Categories of personal information

California law sorts personal information into categories. These are the categories we collect, with examples and where each one comes from.

Category Examples Source
Identifiers Name, postal address, email address, phone number, IP address, campaign or affiliate code You, your device and the link you followed

Employment information Employer, income source and how often you're paid You, through the request form
Internet activity Pages viewed, referring website, browser and device type, time of visit Your device
Sensitive personal information Social Security number, bank account number You, through the request form

How We Use Your Information

We use personal information to:

  • pass your request to lenders and lending partners in our network so they can review it;
  • contact you, with your consent, about your request and about offers that may be available to you;
  • answer your messages and act on privacy and opt-out requests;
  • credit the partner or campaign that referred you, and keep records of what we're paid;
  • keep the Website secure and detect and prevent fraud;
  • fix problems and learn how the Website is used so we can improve it;
  • keep records of your consents and opt-out choices, and meet our legal obligations.

We use sensitive information, such as your Social Security number and bank account details, only to process your request, to prevent fraud and where the law requires it.

Who We Share It With

Lenders and partners in our network

When you send a request, we share the information in it with one or more lenders and lending partners in our network so they can decide whether to make you an offer. Some partners may pass your request on to lenders they work with. Sharing your request is how the service works, and you authorize it when you submit the form.

Service providers

Companies that run parts of the Website for us, such as hosting, email delivery, security and data storage, may handle personal information on our behalf. They may use it only to provide those services to us.

Advertising and affiliate partners

If a partner referred you, we may tell that partner that you visited or sent a request, using the campaign code from your link, so it can be credited and paid. Advertising platforms we work with may also receive information from cookies or similar tools on the Website, to measure whether their ads led to a visit or a request.

Legal reasons and business changes

We may disclose information when the law requires it, to respond to lawful requests from authorities, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or to investigate fraud. If LoansForChristmas is sold, merged or reorganized, personal information may pass to the new owner, who must handle it under the terms of this policy.

How Lenders Use Your Information

By submitting a request, you agree that (a) your information may be shared with lenders and partners on your behalf, and (b) those lenders may obtain consumer reports about you from agencies such as TransUnion, Experian and Equifax to evaluate your creditworthiness.

Once a lender or partner receives your request, it handles your information under its own privacy policy, which we don't control. Lenders may verify your identity and details, check your credit and contact you about an offer. Our Credit Authorization page explains those credit checks. If you go ahead with a lender, read its privacy notice. To have a lender stop using or delete your information, ask that lender directly, because an opt-out with us doesn't reach information a lender already holds.

Sale and Sharing of Personal Information

California and some other states define a "sale" of personal information broadly. Passing your request to lenders and partners in exchange for payment may count as a sale under those laws. Letting advertising platforms receive information from cookies to measure ads may count as "sharing", which California law defines as disclosing personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can opt out of both.

To opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, use the form on Your Privacy Choices, or email [email protected] with "Do not sell or share" in the subject line.

Once we have your opt-out, we stop selling or sharing the information we hold about you, and we keep a record of your choice so we can keep honoring it. An opt-out doesn't recall information that lenders or partners already received. If you later send a new request, the form asks us to pass your details to lenders, since that's how the service works.

Calls, Texts and Emails

By submitting your request, you agree to be contacted by LoansForChristmas and the lenders and lending partners in our network by phone, text message and email, including through automated or prerecorded technology, at the number and address you provide, even if it is on a do-not-call list. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. You can opt out at any time by following the instructions in any message you receive or by telling us through our Contact page.

To stop texts, reply STOP to any message. To stop emails, use the unsubscribe link in the email. You can also use our Contact page to ask us to pass your opt-out to the lenders and partners who received your request. Lenders are separate companies, so you may also need to opt out with them directly. Our Terms & Conditions include the full consent to electronic communications.

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. The Website uses a session cookie to keep our forms secure. It may also use cookies, pixels and similar tools to remember a referral code, to measure visits and how pages perform, and to let advertising partners measure their ads.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block them, some parts of the Website, including our forms, may not work as they should.

Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no common standard for how websites should respond to it, so the Website doesn't change what it does when it receives one.

How We Protect Your Information

The Website encrypts information sent between your browser and our servers with 256-bit SSL. We limit access to personal information to the people and service providers who need it to run the service, and we use administrative and technical safeguards to protect it. We will never ask for your Social Security number or bank details by email.

No website or storage system is completely secure, so we can't promise that your information will never be accessed without permission. If you think your information has been misused, write to us right away.

How Long We Keep It

We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, such as handling your request, keeping records of what we're paid and resolving disputes, or for as long as the law requires. Records of consents and opt-outs are kept longer, so we can show that we honored them. When we no longer need information, we delete it or remove the details that identify you.

Children's Privacy

The service is for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to use it, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has sent us information, write to us and we will delete it.

Your State Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over the personal information we hold about you.

California residents

The California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, the "CCPA"), lets California residents:

  • ask what personal information we have collected about them, where it came from, why we collected it and the kinds of companies we disclosed or sold it to, and get a copy of the specific information we hold;
  • ask us to delete personal information we collected from them, although the law lets us keep some records, such as proof of consent and opt-out choices, or information we need to meet a legal duty;
  • ask us to correct personal information that is inaccurate;
  • opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal information;
  • limit our use of sensitive personal information (we already use it only for purposes the law permits, such as processing a request and preventing fraud);
  • use these rights without being treated differently, which means we won't refuse a request or offer a lower level of service because someone used a privacy right.

Residents of other states

Several other states have consumer privacy laws that give residents similar rights, such as the right to access, correct or delete personal information and to opt out of its sale or of targeted advertising. Some of those laws also let you appeal if we decline your request. Wherever you live, you can send us a privacy request, and we will respond under the law that applies to you.

How to Make a Privacy Request

Use the form on Your Privacy Choices, or email [email protected] and tell us which right you want to use.

Before we act on a request to know, delete or correct information, we confirm your identity by matching details you give us, such as your name, email address or phone number, against the information we hold. We use those details only to verify you. An opt-out of sale or sharing doesn't need that check, though we may ask for enough detail to find your records.

An authorized agent can make a request for you. We will ask for proof that you gave the agent signed permission, and we may ask you to confirm your identity with us directly.

We respond within the time the law allows. If we can't fulfill a request, we will explain why. Where your state's law gives you the right to appeal our decision, reply to our response and ask us to review it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when our practices or the law change. The updated version takes effect when we post it on this page. If a change affects how we use or share your personal information in a significant way, we will say so clearly on this page.
